Hello, patient Big Ink readers. Sorry for the summer doldrums; I’ve been running around some of my favorite American cities and have had less time than I’d like to offer up the usual BInk snacklets. This, however, is too good to pass up: we hear from Mike of Ishbadiddle (part of the Vast Big Ink Conspiracy) that the company for which he works, Donors Choose, is climbing the charts in American Express’s Members Project contest. (Perhaps you’ve seen the strange ad with Ellen Degeneres and Marty Scorcese.) Donors Choose = awesome.
But “favorite cities”, eh? Fair enough, friend, but I still insist you need to stroll through some less solidly blue cities. You don’t have to go into Fuckingawfulville, like Dallas, say. But how about something lovely but more nearly crimson: Charleston, San Antonio, Nashville…Not that they’re NECESSARILY red state, but Portland and Seattle are not exactly challenging environs, are they? Man, YOU’RE the conservative one there.
