Pink, White and Blue
For John Gibson, it’s pretty clear that that whole “all men are created equal” notion is just so much hype. This isn’t even coded language. Message: we need more whites.
GIBSON: Now, it’s time for “My Word.” Do your duty. Make more babies. That’s a lesson drawn out of two interesting stories over the last couple of days.
First, a story yesterday that half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic. Why is that? Well, Hispanics are having more kids than others.
…
Now, in this country, European ancestry people, white people, are having kids at the rate that does sustain the population. It grows a bit. That compares to Europe where the birth rate is in the negative zone. They are not having enough babies to sustain their population.
…
To put it bluntly, we need more babies. Forget about that zero population growth stuff that my poor generation was misled on. Why is this important? Because civilizations need population to survive. So far, we are doing our part here in America but Hispanics can’t carry the whole load. The rest of you, get busy. …
Classy. No doubt Gibson and Bill Bennett will be more than happy to make the tough decisions about who gets to procreate in this country.
Let me make one point here that’s patently obvious but bears repeating: Fox News is not a news outlet; it’s an agenda-setting device. The fact that it looks like news—though their “personalities” are even more bloated and airbrushed than most news anchors—does not mean it actually produces news. It produces material to support, influence, undermine or obscure cultural ideas that are part of a political agenda. The fact that the network may do so primarily out of financial consideration doesn’t change this. Neither does the fact that other major cable entities have to contend with Fox’s ratings and revenues. That only makes it worse, of course, as real news (whatever that may be and we could discuss that if you wanted to) is distorted within Rupert’s extremely profitable gravitational field. Herewith, then, a Big Ink rule of thumb: Fox News is not news. Learn it, live it, teach it to your kids. Whatever color they may be.
