Though nothing here would really make the current Washington scandal meter do more than twitch — he may have gotten some preferential treatment from a bank on his mortgage and he slipped some multi-million dollar language into legislation on behalf of a campaign donor; kid stuff, really — this is a good example of rigorous, numbers-based reporting that fills in some details about how Santorum does business in Washington.

The self-dealing doesn’t rise to the level of the Duke, but it reinforces the notion that what politicians say and what they do are not always completely in synch.

Update: Looks like those pesky muckrakers at CREW are on the case.
